| Ferroxcube, a leading supplier of full range soft ferrite products, announced today that its customized ferrite core solutions KU26, KU30 and UC26 have been approved by customers for application in LCD TV displays. KU26 (1-drive-2-lamp design) and KU30 (1-drive-4-lamp design) ferrite core solutions offer higher density power conversion capability, superb conductivity and low profile attributes that are suitable for the design of slimmer CCFL-backlit LCD TVs. UC26, featuring ultra-low temperature of 5°C below industry average and superior expandability to support prolonged lifespan and larger size application, is designed for CCFL backlight modules of LCD TVs in 32" and up. |
Ferroxcube's UC26 is TCO99 certified with leading EMI shielding attributes and provides premium throughput power, thermal disposition and conversion efficiency comparing with the traditional E shape ferrite in meeting CCFL backlighting requirements. With slight modification in the backlight circuit board, 1-drive-2-lamp design can be upgraded to 1-drive-4-lamp design. Furthermore, UC26's greater inductance makes it a cost effective solution as it does not require extra high-capacitance SMD capacitor.
Chuanchi W.Ou, Marketing/Commercial Support Manager of Ferroxcube Asia Pacific Region, explains, "Ferroxcube, the world's strongest suppliers of soft ferrite core solutions, is one step ahead of the industry because it possesses the ability to provide customized ferrite cores to meet customers' specifications. That also drives the successful penetration of LCD TV segment. The triumph brings Ferroxcube 39% growth rate in EDP (Electronic Data Processing) field during the first half of 2006 against last year."
According to iSuppli, global shipment of LCD TVs will reach 31.36 million in 2006, a 60% growth from 2005. This will in turn trigger demand for CCFL backlight modules, a key application of ferrite products. Ferroxcube is looking to capitalize on the growth of LCD TVs offering design support for applications of its ferrite core solutions in CCFL backlight modules.
